Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Sushi Chef to join our culinary team at FIVE Zürich Switzerland. As a Sushi Chef, you will be responsible for creating a rich sushi menu with various main ingredients, preparing appetizers, soups, and salads that align with Japanese cuisine principles, and ensuring the highest quality ingredients are used in all dishes.

You will work closely with our management team to develop constantly evolving service goals and objectives. Key responsibilities include:

  • Create a diverse and appealing sushi menu featuring various main ingredients
  • Prepare appetizers, soups, and salads that adhere to Japanese cuisine standards
  • Ensure the use of high-quality ingredients in all dishes
  • Prepare traditional Japanese sushi rice, chop, slice, and fillet various fish types, and place orders for supplies as needed
  • Regularly take inventory of food supplies and other products
  • Craft customized customer orders according to preferences and dietary requirements
  • Maintain adherence to the highest quality food preparation and hygiene standards

Required Skills and Qualifications

To succeed as a Sushi Chef at FIVE Zürich Switzerland, you must possess:

  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience working in upscale sushi restaurants or 5-star hotels in a similar role
  • In-depth knowledge of various Japanese ingredients and sushi types, including sushi-rolling techniques
  • The ability to work under pressure and collaboratively with the team
  • A strong understanding of food safety requirements for restaurants
  • An ability to stand for extended periods
  • Excellent communication and time-management skills
  • A valid Swiss work permit or EU ID/passport holder

Compensation

Our estimated annual salary for this position is around CHF 80,000 - 120,000 (approximately USD 85,000 - 127,000), based on industry standards and location. This compensation package reflects the value we place on your expertise and contributions to our culinary team.
