Paediatrician - Global Health Specialist

Responsibilities and Expectations

  • Medical Leadership - Provide medical guidance and oversight to ensure high-quality care for children in our projects.
  • Team Management - Supervise and train a team of paediatric professionals to deliver effective and compassionate care.
  • Care Coordination - Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless care for newborns and children across emergency, outpatient, and inpatient departments.
  • Malnutrition Treatment - Treat cases of malnutrition according to established protocols and universal precautions.
  • Care Improvement - Identify areas for improvement in paediatric care management and propose modifications for implementation.
  • Training and Quality Assurance - Conduct ongoing training for medical and paramedical teams, review complex cases, and provide technical advice to ensure high-quality care.
  • Patient Communication - Keep patients and families informed about their treatment and ensure they understand their care plan.
  • Professional Standards - Uphold professional autonomy, confidentiality, and a positive attitude towards patients and their caregivers.
  • Department Oversight - Monitor the functioning of the paediatric department, its patient flow, and provide advice on ward organisation and admission, transfer, and discharge criteria.
  • Referral Guidance - Provide advice on referral procedures from maternity and post-delivery wards.
  • Quality Improvement - Contribute to data analysis, monitoring, and reporting to enhance the quality of care.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Medical Degree - Possess a medical doctor degree.
  • Paediatrics Specialisation - Hold a paediatrics specialisation or be undergoing specialisation with at least three years of professional experience in paediatrics.
  • Recent Clinical Experience - Have recent clinical experience, with at least six months within the last 24 months.
  • IT Skills - Possess IT skills, including proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Language Proficiency - Be fluent in English and/or French.
  • Availability - Be available for a minimum of three months.
  • MSF Commitment - Demonstrate commitment to MSF's work and values.
  • Teamwork - Exhibit strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
  • Cultural Adaptability - Be willing to work in various contexts worldwide, including unstable areas.
  • Flexibility - Show adaptability and the ability to manage stress.
