Job Description

Background:

As part of the United Nations Institute for Training and Research's (UNITER) efforts to strengthen multilateralism and international cooperation, we are seeking a highly motivated and organized individual to join our team as a Training Associate.

The selected candidate will be responsible for assisting in the preparation and implementation of a number of Field Visits and Online Training Programmes, which will take place in Geneva, Switzerland.

The programme aims to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of the multilateral environment and the United Nations system.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with a diverse team of experts and participants from around the world.

Responsibilities:

The trainee will assist in the preparation and implementation of Field Visits and Online Training Programmes, including liaising with partner institutions, managing content on the virtual e-Learning platform, and preparing arrangements for the arrival of participants.

The trainee will also help facilitate the live-components in the online training programmes and accompany the groups during the implementation of the field visits.

Typical tasks assigned to the trainee may include coordination of logistics, facilitation and monitoring of training sessions, support of the programme's outreach and communication strategy, and creation and improvement of online and other training material.

Learning Objectives:

After the assignment, the trainee should be able to translate strategic vision into actionable objectives, work independently and take initiative, develop a professional rapport with UNITAR and United Nations staff, propose ways to further UNITAR's mission, and work in a multicultural environment.

Minimum Requirements:

Applicants must be enrolled in an undergraduate/graduate/postgraduate degree in international relations, education, history, law, political science, languages, or a related subject, or be a recent graduate of the aforementioned.

Excellent knowledge in both oral and written English is required, and knowledge of Mandarin Chinese is an asset.

Candidates are expected to be dynamic and team-oriented, with a high level of organizational capacity, including time-management, logistics, and planning.

Experience with organizing field visits, tour guiding, or related activities, as well as familiarity with implementing online training programmes, events, or related activities, is required.

Strong social and interpersonal skills, knowledge of the United Nations System and international affairs, and adherence to UN values and principles, including cooperation, respect, and solidarity, are essential.

Expertise in digital marketing and social media platforms, graphic design, and photo/video recording and editing skills are an asset.
