We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Mental Health and Pastoral Care Specialist to join our team at Geneva English School.

About the Role

This is a permanent post, ideally commencing in January 2025. As a key member of our school community, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional pastoral care and support to our students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Taking an active role in monitoring and promoting positive behaviour, relationships, personal and social development among students.
  • Acting as Designated Safeguarding Lead for the Secondary school, ensuring the well-being and safety of all students.
  • Liaising with teaching staff to establish effective systems supporting students' social and emotional needs.
  • Meeting individually with students and parents as required, addressing their concerns and developing strategies for growth.
  • Coordinating and contributing to the Personal, Social, Health and Economic education (PHSE) curriculum, fostering a holistic approach to student development.
  • Providing guidance and support to staff on safeguarding and mental health matters, promoting a culture of care and inclusivity.
  • Demonstrating enthusiasm and proactivity in your approach to the role, always seeking ways to enhance student outcomes.
Person Specification

To succeed in this role, you will possess:

  • An appropriate qualification in Psychology and relevant work experience with adolescents in a school setting.
  • Fluent spoken and written English, with strong verbal and written communication skills. A good level of French is necessary for liaison with local agencies, as required.
  • Confidence in liaising with the wider community, including external professionals and parents.
  • The ability to recognise signs and behaviours indicating mental health needs, creating and implementing effective strategies.
  • The capacity to handle emotional issues and crisis situations involving Primary and Secondary students, reacting appropriately and sensitively.
  • Able to work autonomously and effectively within a multidisciplinary team, demonstrating discretion, proactivity, empathy, and accessibility.
