Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as an Associate Project Officer. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) contribution to EC Horizon funded projects, focusing on communication, project management, and donor reporting.
Key Accountabilities
- Support the WMO contribution to EC Horizon funded projects CROSSEU and CARMINE, focusing on communication, project management, and donor reporting;
- Deliver the communication and dissemination project components of WMO involvement with CROSSEU and CARMINE, ensuring successful and timely completion of relevant WMO deliverables and tasks in accordance with the Project Grant Agreements;
- Attend all necessary and relevant in person and hybrid project-related meetings, including project General Assemblies, to ensure that WMO delivers its required contribution to the projects and maintains a strong working relationship with project coordinators, all other project beneficiaries, and external stakeholders;
- Coordinate communication of the projects' results to WMO senior management, programmes, project partners, and other external stakeholders;
- Manage the preparation and submission of regular and ad-hoc project progress or continuous reporting to the European Commission (project funder) and WMO senior management;
- Provide content for WMO communication activities and identify synergies with other WMO projects across all Departments;
- Carry out other relevant duties as required.
About You
The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree or equivalent in meteorology, climate sciences, earth sciences, science communication, or a related field. They will also have a minimum of three years of national and international progressively responsible experience in project or programme management in climate change adaptation, mitigation, or services. Specific experience in delivering and supporting institutional commitments to funded Horizon Europe projects is required. Holding financial and/or project management qualifications would be an added advantage.
