Job Title: Director, Business Development

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Business Development Director to join our team at PSI. As a key member of our commercial team, you will be responsible for identifying and pursuing new business opportunities, building strong relationships with our customers, and driving revenue growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prospect and leverage new business opportunities within our customer base.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with key decision-makers and develop deep knowledge of their organizations.
  • Analyze opportunities and develop detailed business plans and sales strategies.
  • Identify and respond to customer needs to define potential opportunities.
  • Work with our operations team to prepare sales presentations and educate team participants on customer culture and sales techniques.
  • Lead the sales process, including identifying the right team for pitches and preparing and leading sales presentations.
  • Coordinate with our proposal development group to develop proposals and operations to finalize strategy and pricing.
  • Handle follow-up related to sales and facilitate completion of contractual documents.
  • Ensure a smooth hand-off to project teams by transferring knowledge on customer needs and expectations.
  • Share customer strategies and sales plans with project directors/managers.
  • Coordinate with project managers/directors and operations to escalate and address customer issues/concerns.
  • Seek input from project managers/directors to proactively address changes in scope, new opportunities, or customer dissatisfaction.
  • Work with project managers/directors and operations to ensure changes in scope are negotiated with customers.
  • Maintain high visibility within customer organizations.
  • Monitor customer satisfaction through regular surveys.
  • Coordinate with project managers/directors to ensure customer needs are met and address concerns/issues in a timely manner.
  • Review proposals and analyze requests for proposals and protocols.
  • Attend industry events, set up meetings, and perform follow-up with potential clients.
  • Act as a liaison between Bay Area clients and operations as needed.

    Requirements

    • University degree in health sciences or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
    • Demonstrable competency in sales or business development, preferably in the CRO sales arena.
    • 3-5 years of business development experience in the CRO sales arena.
    • Working proficiency with Salesforce.
    • Strong communication, collaboration, problem-solving, and time management skills.
    • Capable and willing to travel.
