International Human Rights Advocate

Job Summary:

At OCHA, we are seeking an experienced International Human Rights Advocate to join our team. As a key member of our Europe and Central Asia Section/Americas, Europe and Central Asia Branch/Field Operations and Technical Cooperation Division, you will play a crucial role in promoting and protecting human rights worldwide.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategies to advance human rights at the international level, working closely with governments, civil society organizations, and other stakeholders.
  • Conduct research and analysis on human rights issues, identifying areas for improvement and developing recommendations for policy changes.
  • Represent OCHA at high-level meetings and conferences, advocating for human rights and gender equality.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement country-specific programs, ensuring that human rights are integrated into all aspects of our work.
  • Maintain relationships with donors, partners, and other external stakeholders, building trust and support for OCHA's human rights initiatives.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in law, political science, international relations, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in human rights, politics, international relations, or a related area, preferably with experience supporting human rights mechanisms.
  • Excellent analytical, writing, and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong knowledge of human rights principles, including those related to gender equality and social justice.
  • Ability to travel frequently, with a willingness to adapt to changing circumstances and priorities.
