About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Human Rights Officer to join our team at the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA). As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in promoting and protecting human rights around the globe.

This is an exciting opportunity to work with a dynamic team of professionals who share your passion for human rights. Our team works closely with governments, civil society organizations, and other stakeholders to address humanitarian crises and promote sustainable development.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement strategies to promote human rights and protect vulnerable populations;
  • Collaborate with governments, NGOs, and other partners to design and deliver programs that advance human rights;
  • Provide technical assistance and capacity-building support to national authorities and local communities on human rights issues;
  • Maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including UN agencies, governments, and civil society organizations;
  • Support the development of policy briefs, reports, and other materials on human rights issues;
  • Represent OCHA at international conferences and meetings related to human rights;
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A master's degree in law, political science, international relations, social sciences or related field;
  • At least 7 years of experience in human rights, political affairs, international relations, law or related area;
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously;
  • Fluency in English (oral and written) is required, knowledge of French or Spanish is desirable.
About OCHA

OCHA is the United Nations agency responsible for coordinating humanitarian efforts worldwide. We work closely with governments, civil society organizations, and other stakeholders to respond to humanitarian crises and promote sustainable development.

We offer a competitive salary range of $75,000 - $100,000 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience. This position is open to candidates from all over the world, and we welcome applications from diverse backgrounds.
