- Sandoz, a division of Novartis, is a global leader in Generic and Biosimilar medicines. We are committed to building on that leadership to drive access to medicine worldwide and are doubling down to build on our already rich pipeline of 15+ biosimilars.
- The Biopharmaceuticals business unit is a critical driver of Sandoz’s mid-term success. We approach business development strategically and have a track-record of closing deals. The purpose of this role is to lead all licensing activities including search, evaluation, transaction negotiation, completion of BD&L deals, support regional BD&L; as well as Alliance Management support. Support M&A deals in conjunction with Group M&A.
- Your Key responsibilities:
- Lead a senior BD&L team to secure high-quality assets in line with Sandoz Biopharma strategy (including exploring and evaluating potential collaborations, due diligence, acquisitions, and licensing opportunities).
- Work with portfolio, development, legal, finance, technical operations, manufacturing, the regions, and commercial groups to identify promising external assets to build the Sandoz Biopharma pipeline.
- Propose best deal structure for Sandoz to positive outcome of negotiations.
- Lead a team of Alliance managers to drive alliance management activities with established partnerships, to realize full value of the deal.
- Interface with key stakeholders within the Sandoz to develop and lead efforts for a robust external partnering strategy.
- Manage the Sandoz Biopharma governance processes and where appropriate present opportunities to the ECN deal committee.
- Evaluate potential M&A opportunities and work closely with Group M&A to execute on prioritized and supported M&A transactions.
- Lead the Sandoz Biopharma BD&L and Alliance teams including talent/team development

**Minimum requirements**
- What you'll bring to the role:
- Scientific degree, with MS or MBA as a strong plus
- English (spoken and written fluency); knowledge of other languages a plus
- 10+ years industry experience with a minimum 5 years of experience in leading BD&L.
- Proven track record of deal execution in scientific environment
- Leadership experience of a team of direct reports in a matrix working environment
- Scientific/medical / business experience
- Understanding of Pharma, biotech sector
