This post is located in the Medical Insurance Section, Financial Resources Management Service, Division of Administration of the United Nations Office at Geneva. The incumbent reports to the Administrative and Benefits Officer of the Medical Insurance Section.
**Responsibilities**:
Under the supervision of the Administrative and Benefits Officer of the Medical Insurance Section, the incumbent will be responsible for the following duties:
1. Tasks related to the processing of medical claims
- Processes health insurance claims;
- Checks claims, prior authorizations and supporting documents; checks benefits and related costs;
- Verifies and validates expenses, uses accurate reimbursement codes and effects data validation in the New Health Insurance Information System (NHIIS) and the e-Claims portal of UNSMIS;
- Assists in responding to complex queries relating to high value medical claims (for example hospitalization, accidents, medical evaluations) and to requests from many different countries;
- Researches necessary information related to accidents of staff members during the performance of official duties or involving a third party;
- Timely follow-up of pending files.
2. Tasks related to the verification of payments
- Analyzes the list of pending payments and the list of pending claims.
3. Other tasks
- Assists in drafting responses to insured members;
- Archives medical claim files;
- Assists with periodical quality checks of medical claims;
- Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Education
High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Work Experience
At least five (5) years of experience in administration, finance, accounting or related area is required.
Out of these five years, two (2) years' experience within the United Nations Common System is desirable.
Experience in dealing with complex medical insurance claims such as hospitalization or claims in different currencies and languages is desirable.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position(s) advertised, fluency in English and French is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is desirable.
