The World Economic Forum’s Centre for the New Economy and Society is the global platform for shaping prosperous, inclusive and equitable economies and societies that create opportunity for all. It provides leaders with an integrated hub to understand emerging socio-economic trends and to shape the future through new policies, practices and coalitions.
The Centre accelerates impact on five interconnected Missions: 1) Economic Growth, Revival and Transformation; 2) Work, Wages and Job Creation; 3) Education, Skills and Learning; 4) Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Social Justice; and 5) Global Risks. The Centre’s matrix also includes horizontal Functional practices: 1) Action Initiatives, 2) Insight Products, 3) Programming and Communications, and 4) Community Engagement.
Business, government and civil society executives work with the Centre for the New Economy and Society to access and co-create insights, to develop action frameworks and to lead change through multi-stakeholder initiatives that address some of the most complex challenges and opportunities within the Centre’s five thematic Mission areas. Across the Missions, team members are often specialized across either Action or Insight work.

- The Action Lead will specialize in managing current and new initiatives focused on the future of work, job quality, wages and job creation with an objective to deliver tangible impact enhancing labour market outcomes globally.
Reporting lines and interactions
The Action Lead will work within the Centre’s matrix structure, reporting to the Head of the thematic Mission, with guidance from the relevant functional practice Head. The Lead will work closely with other staff across the Centre and the organization to deliver outcomes efficiently.
Main responsibilities- The Action Lead will be leading or co-leading a portfolio of action-oriented initiatives and associated communities within the mission.- Develop and manage impactful initiatives and communities within the portfolio, aiming towards driving systems change, in alignment with the overall impact framework of the Centre and Forum- Work in close alignment and collaboration with their Mission team, corresponding functional teams, and other colleagues across the Centre to co-deliver on the overall Mission objectives.- Ensure seamless external engagement with the Mission, supporting the integration of relevant Forum members and partners into the Lead’s thematic portfolio of work, creating efficient pathways for stakeholders to engage and ensuring the community derives value.- Represent the Centre for the New Economy and Society internally across the organization and externally as required.- Contribute to the development of new tools and methodologies for successful implementation of the Centre’s initiatives, aligning closely across the Action Initiatives functional practice.- Support the Head of Mission and Head of Action practice on Centre-wide planning and coordination, support Centre-wide communication flow and delivery against the Centre’s strategy and objectives within the matrix structure.- Support onboarding and guidance of new colleagues and understand and role model a supportive, ambitious and collaborative team culture.- Formulating strategies and workplans for activities within their thematic portfolio of work in alignment with the mission team and corresponding functional practice(s), integrating multiple views and evolving and innovating within a rapidly shifting context.- Agile coordination and management of action frameworks, leadership alliances and multistakeholder initiatives within their thematic portfolio of work in alignment with the mission team and corresponding functional practice(s).- Developing, managing and coordinating strategic partnerships with external partners, including major efforts by leading businesses, governments and international organizations, fully leveraging the Forum’s platform approach.- Ability to engage with senior stakeholders and assess collaboration opportunities within the context of the Lead’s thematic portfolio, the broader Mission, and the Centre as a whole.- Analyzing, synthesizing and leveraging quantitative and qualitative data in support of project-related insight, community and strategy development.- Ability to collaborate efficiently and transparently within the team as a strong team player and
