**Assistant Scientist - Biocatalysis**

**Location**:Satigny, Geneva, Switzerland

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Discovery and characterization of novel enzymes and biosynthetic pathways for the synthesis of new and known target molecules
- Plan & perform microbial cultivations in deep well plates and shake flasks
- Plan & perform biotransformations at various scales including their analytical follow-up
- Conduct optimizations of biocatalytic reactions
- Identify limitations and actively propose solutions
- Document, analyze, organize, and present data to the scientific team
- Comply with HS&E procedures and proactively contribute to improve laboratory safety

**You bring**:

- Msc. in Biotechnology, Biochemistry or related discipline, or other training leading to equivalent qualification (e.g. CFC/EFZ Biology, plus relevant experience)
- Hands on experience in enzyme discovery, enzyme development/screening, enzymology, and recombinant protein expression; assay development experience an advantage
- Good knowledge of organic chemistry and analytical chemistry (e.g. GC-FID/MS, HPLC)
- Basic knowledge in bioinformatics and in laboratory automation systems is a plus
- Creative, open-minded, critical, autonomous personality, team player
- Fluent in English (C1) or French (C1); and a willingness to learn the other language
