**About the role**:
**The Regional General Counsel, Europe & Canada (EUCAN RGC) is responsible for legal support and for managing legal risks relating to the Takeda European and Canadian operations in the framework of the global function, Global General Counsel (GGC). The Head of Legal EUCAN reports to the Global General Counsel.**:
**The EUCAN RGC oversees legal support and risk management in relation to the global manufacturing organization (GMS.**:
**The EUCAN RGC drives the development of the EUCAN legal organization to become increasingly proficient in advising a pharmaceutical company that aspires to be the leader in the rare disease area and having a leading position in other therapeutic areas such as GI and Oncology. In this role you will observe the DEI agenda of the corporation and aid in reducing our carbon footprint. This role is a true business partner to the organization when pursuing its strategic imperative of unleashing the power of digital.**:
**How you will contribute**:

- ** Provide legal strategic advice to Takeda Leadership on laws, directives, regulations and guidelines related to the development and commercialization of Takeda Products to be marketed or distributed in the EUCAN area, especially with the focus on new ways of marketing products, such as omni-channel marketing, enhanced real world evidence generation, value based partnerships etc.**:

- ** Define strategic priorities for the legal team, develop and execute on a strategy for the legal team that ensures that the function furthers the overall strategic ambitions of the company.**:

- ** Contribute to the development of corporate strategy, ensuring legal risks and commercial legal opportunities are properly balanced with sound risk management.**:

- ** Manage all lawyers advising the commercial organization in the EUCAN Business Unit (BU). This encompasses both lawyers in the TPIZ organization in Zurich as well as lawyers based in the various countries of the region.**:

- ** Steer the TPIZ Legal Centers of Excellence/Practice Groups, which provide support to Global Business Functions (such as GMS and Procurement, Business Development ), acting as a shared service to other areas beyond EUCAN (e.g., Emerging Markets and China).**:

- ** Manage the legal team supporting GMS, globally.**:

- ** Champion the continuous creation and improvement of efficient and effective legal processes, particularly with a focus on digital augmentation of working processes.**:

- ** Collaborate with and manage external legal counsels to monitor and assess compliance with applicable European laws and regulations and takes necessary action as required.**:

- ** Serve as sponsor or coordinator on global projects within the legal area (examples, DE&I council, Digital Council).**:

- ** Drive other global alignment efforts as needed (such as, Sanctions compliance, Competition compliance)**:

- ** Drives the digital transformation within the legal area with a special focus on new legislation in areas such as the digital health space, AI and other relevant areas.**:

- ** Oversee material litigations within the EUCAN area.**:

- ** Continuously display and drive behaviors consistent with Takeda leadership philosophy.**:

- ** Serve on the Global General Counsel Leadership Team, ensuring proper reporting to and communication with the Global General Counsel and the other Regional General Counsels.**:

- ** Serve on the EUCAN Executive Team (EET) and on the EUCAN Risk, Ethics and Compliance Committee.**:

- ** Serve as a board member of Takeda Pharmaceuticals International AG, Zurich (TPIZ)**:

- ** Serve as a member of the board in Takeda affiliates as needed.**:

**What you bring to Takeda**:

- ** Masters degree in law with at least 15 years of post-qualification experience and a solid understanding of European civil and common law systems.**:

- ** Experience in leading a sizeable in-house legal team.**:

- ** Experience as in-house counsel dealing with listed companies, complex business development transactions and corporate governance. Significant experience gained in private practice is preferred.**:

- ** Able to develop and further strategic priorities for the team in line with business risk and priorities.**:

- ** Experience in pharmaceutical industry.**:

- ** Ability to lead and attract talent, create a culture of collaboration and teamwork that fosters open communication, constructively resolves conflict and demonstrates organizational flexibility.**:

- ** Business focused, sound understanding of the business strategies and financial matters.**:

- ** Able to manage sizeable budgets.**:
