The main purpose of this role is to shape the scientific understanding and narrative for TAK755 in Europe and Canada, by interacting with the top KOLs and leading a team of MSL interacting with KOLs across EUCAN. This role must define and execute the medical strategy in alignment with the Global medical affairs team and the EUCAN IFT.
**_ KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:_**
**Strategic Leadership**:
- Develop a new regionalized medical model for cTTP (congenital Thrombotic Thrombocytopenic Purpura), acting as a pilot for future launches in ultra-rare diseases.
**Team Leadership and Collaboration**:
- Lead the cTTP medical team to ensure KOLs and HCPs are sufficiently educated in cTTP disease and treatment.
- Recruit, lead and develop the LOC based EUCAN medical team.
- Foster a collaborative and innovative team environment, encouraging open communication and knowledge sharing.
- Provide mentoring, coaching, and professional development opportunities for team members, fostering their growth within the organization.
- Formulate and drive strategic KOL/Medical Societies/Stakeholder engagement plans to support the Takeda strategy needs in cTTP.
**Global, Regional & LOC Alignment**:
- Represent the EUCAN perspective within MST ensuring that regional and local needs are integrated into the global plans.
- Collaborate with GPLS and other stakeholders to ensure regional medical plans align with global strategies.
- Provide insights from the region to inform global strategy and program management, ensuring where possible consistency across markets.
**Stakeholder Engagement**:
- Engage with key stakeholders, including internal and external parties, to ensure a comprehensive understanding of patient needs and regulatory requirements.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs).
- Shape the scientific understanding and narrative for TAK755 across the EUCAN region.
**Innovation and Continuous Improvement**:
- Stay updated on industry trends, new technologies, and innovative practices that could enhance brand performance and patient outcomes.
- Proactively identify opportunities to improve care for patients.
- Identify and initiate studies that can have an impact on care for patients with cTTP.
**Medical and scientific quality**
- Ensures that medical activities in the Region and LOCs are compliant with all applicable local and regional regulations and obligations, as well as in line with Takeda’s own Ethical Guidelines and Business Practices. Always uphold the company reputation.
- Review and approve commercial and medical materials as per Takeda guidelines.
- Review and approve studies as per Takeda guidelines.
**Performance Monitoring and Reporting**:
- Regularly report progress to senior management, identifying areas of success, needs for improvement and possible solutions.
**_ KEY ATTRIBUTES, CRITICAL SUCCESS FACTORS AND ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:_**
**Key Attributes**
- University degree in life sciences, master’s degree required, MD or PhD a plus.
- Strong leadership skills, inspiring and motivating teams to achieve common goals.
- At least 8 years’ experience working in pharmaceutical industry.
- Demonstrated the ability to establish and cultivate strong relationships with external stakeholders including KOLs (in an MSL, KAM or CRA role).
- Successfully led and developed customer facing teams.
- Demonstrated ability to successfully lead teams or projects involving multiple LOCs.
- Demonstrated ability to innovate in ways of working, combined with a good understanding of the existing regulations and Pharma code.
- Strategic thinking combined with analytical abilities for effective decision-making.
- Excellent communication & influencing skills, fostering cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder engagement.
- Innovative mindset, adapting to changing dynamics and seeking novel approaches.
- Results-oriented with a deep commitment to improving patient outcomes.
- Proficient in managing complex stakeholder interactions.
- Demonstrated knowledge of market access needs.
- Strong prioritization skills and ability to make difficult trade off decisions.
