**Your contribution**
In this challenging and important leadership role, you will be responsible for the mechanical and electronical design of products in development. To achieve project goals, you will lead a team of hardware engineers and ensure their professional growth and development.- Lead and grow hardware engineering competences to develop, design, and evaluate opto-electromechanical, fluidic, and robotic systems, precision mechanisms, and motion control
- Contribute directly and influence the development of these systems based on business needs and system requirements
- Communicate complex technical situations to a technical and non-technical audience effectively
- Anticipate future problems and resolve complex, multidimensional problems utilizing internal and cross-functional stakeholders
- Ensure that recognized and relevant industry standards are followed alongside good engineering practices
- Actively search for leading-edge technologies in the field of mechatronics, advanced simulation techniques and manufacturing, and incorporating these developments in the work stream
- Responsibility and accountability for leading thorough and rigorous design reviews
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including software engineers, industrial designers and product managers to ensure seamless integration of hardware components into overall product design
- Attract and retain top talent to create an agile, best-in-class engineering organization, including mentoring of junior staff
- Line management for multiple team leaders, fostering open communication and trustful collaboration
- Resource allocation for product development projects together with project and line managers
**Your background**
We’re not just looking for hard skills: We’re looking for people who bring their passion and talent to work.- Advanced university degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics or equivalent
- 10+ years of product development experience in the life sciences, analytical instrumentation, robotics, medical/diagnostics industries, including concept generation, trade-off analyses, requirements flow down, subsystem integration, and technical risk management
- 5+ years of experience leading large cross-functional teams
- 5+ years of experience in industries with different manufacturing technologies, preferably in the medical device industry
- Experience with finite element structural and modal analysis as well as computational fluid dynamics
- Proven ability to innovate with a history of successful new or improved product releases
- Experience in cost-oriented design and value engineering as well as in systems engineering, testing and manufacturing engineering
- Demonstrated track record of strong critical systems thinking and problem-solving skills
- Several years of line management experience
- Leading and maintaining a positive culture in line with the company's core values
- Authentic, honest, reliable personality with a strong sense of urgency, teamwork and focus on results
- High sense of responsibility and commitment with an eye for priorities
- Mastery of written and spoken English, German knowledge is an advantage
