The Position

As a key member of the Global Medical Affairs Rare Disease organization, the Senior Global Scientific Communications Manager drives global scientific communication strategies and publication plans across therapeutic areas. This role combines strategic leadership with hands-on execution, influencing without direct authority, and focuses on innovation within Cell Therapy and Rare Renal Disorders.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Drive Innovation in Scientific Communication: Expand digital and omnichannel communication, integrating new technologies and processes for impactful engagement.
  2. Enhance Global and Local Alignment: Create tools and frameworks to ensure consistent yet flexible messaging across global and affiliate teams.
  3. Strengthen Governance and HCP Engagement: Oversee publication governance, provide internal training, and foster collaboration with healthcare professionals and external experts.
  4. Lead Global Publication Strategy: Develop and execute publication plans aligned with medical narratives, brand plans, and evidence strategies, including oversight of scientific congress materials.
  5. Facilitate Publication Planning Groups (PPG): Chair meetings, drive decision-making, and manage systems like iEnvision and BEAM to streamline publication execution.

Qualifications:

  1. Advanced university degree (MSc, PhD, MD) with at least 5 years of experience in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry, focusing on medical affairs, publication management, and scientific communication.
  2. Extensive experience in developing and executing scientific publications and communications, with a deep understanding of all aspects of the process.
  3. Proven expertise in project and stakeholder management within complex matrix environments, complemented by strong organizational and decision-making skills.
  4. Excellent communication, presentation, and collaboration abilities, with a proactive and solution-oriented mindset.
  5. Innovative thinker with a passion for improving efficiency, effectiveness, and quality in medical affairs, driving impactful advancements in the field.

Rare Disease, based in Zurich, Switzerland, is the global head office of the rare disease arm of Novo Nordisk. We are focused on improving the lives of people with serious chronic rare diseases.
