Senior Communications Manager

Job tasks

  1. Write impactful and easily digestible content around complex scientific or technical topics (e.g. scientific papers, infrastructure projects) for all our communication channels (e.g. website, newsletters, social media, press relations, annual activity report) as per the content strategy and editorial line;
  2. Ensure the dissemination of content produced across all channels, and by leveraging a national and international network of partners;
  3. Proofread and edit texts for other colleagues and teams in English, French and, ideally, German;
  4. Proactively identify communication opportunities to feed the content strategy.

Content writing and editing

  1. Manage several communication projects (e.g. videos, webinars, social media campaigns, annual activity reports) in parallel, from planning to delivery and dissemination.
  2. Propose new projects to convey our messages in an interactive and sustainable way, involving for example infographics, animations and video scripting.

Press relations

  1. Develop our PR strategy with a focus first on Romandie and then on Swiss German media.
  2. Liaise with political affairs.

Social media management (X, Mastodon, LinkedIn)

  1. Craft or proofread engaging campaigns around specific topics (e.g. our conferences, services or trending topics);
  2. Feed our social media channels to grow our follower base.

Profile requirements

Experience

  1. 7 years minimum in a similar Communication position
  2. Experience in an educational/academic/life science or healthcare environment a strong asset
  3. Knowledge of the Swiss ecosystem in our field

Education

  1. University degree in Biology or a related field of the life sciences (BSc, MSc or PhD), or alternatively, 5 years of experience in the life science communication field.
  2. Degree in Communications or Journalism an asset

Technical skills

  1. Excellent writing and editing skills: capacity to translate complex concepts into engaging and impactful stories for various audiences including life scientists, funders, journalists, politicians
  2. Outstanding organizational and project management skills (experience in using project management tools such as Asana or ClickUp an asset)
  3. Command of MS office tools (Word, Excel, PPT)
  4. Fluent in English and French (oral and written), German an asset
