Your tasksYou will collaborate with European research project partners to plan and conduct thermal-hydraulics (TH) analyses for Small Modular nuclear Reactors (SMRs). This will include the development of system TH models for both Swiss and European experimental facilities, and validation of system TH codes based on new experimental data. Additionally, comparative analyses of different system TH codes will be made for SMR systems. You will participate in identifying safety knowledge gaps and in providing recommendations to address them with a focus on safety aspects of SMR modelling. You will publish and present your research results in the form of peer-reviewed articles, conference papers and technical reports.
Your profileWe are looking for a candidate with a university degree in Nuclear or Mechanical Engineering, Physics and/or Applied Mathematics with doctorate or equivalent experience. A good working knowledge of single and two-phase fluid dynamics and heat transfer is required. The candidate should ideally have a solid background in nuclear engineering, with experience in thermal-hydraulics analysis of light water nuclear reactors (LWRs). Experience with nuclear systems TH codes, in particular the APROS and/or TRACE codes would be beneficial. The candidate should be fluent in spoken and written English. Proficiency in German is beneficial.
