Your tasksYou will collaborate with European research project partners to plan and conduct thermal-hydraulics (TH) analyses for Small Modular nuclear Reactors (SMRs). This will include the development of system TH models for a prototype design of a district heating SMR. In collaboration with colleagues and potential end users of non-electric nuclear energy production, you will participate in identifying and assessing the safety aspects relating to non-electric uses of nuclear energy. You will publish and present your research results in the form of peer-reviewed articles, conference papers, and technical reports.
Your profileWe are looking for a candidate with a university degree in Nuclear or Mechanical Engineering, Physics, and/or Applied Mathematics with a doctorate or equivalent experience. A good working knowledge of single and two-phase fluid dynamics and heat transfer is required. The candidate should ideally have a solid background in nuclear engineering, with experience in thermal-hydraulics analysis of light water nuclear reactors (LWRs). Experience with nuclear systems TH codes, particularly the APROS and/or TRACE codes, would be beneficial. The candidate should be fluent in spoken and written English, and proficiency in German is beneficial.
