The research laboratory of Prof. Caroline Arber Barth (Targeted immunotherapies for hematologic malignancies - DOF UNIL-CHUV) would like to strengthen their team with a Postdoctoral researcher in T cell engineering and immuno-oncology.
Context
The Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV) is one of five Swiss university hospitals. Through its collaboration with the Faculty of Biology and Medicine of the University of Lausanne and the EPFL, CHUV plays a leading role in the areas of medical care, medical research, and training.
The Department of Oncology UNIL-CHUV brings together clinical and cancer research in a strong spirit of innovation. It comprises the services of medical oncology, immuno-oncology including advanced cellular therapies, radiation oncology, hematology including stem cell transplantation and the center for experimental therapies. It also integrates the Lausanne branch of the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research (LICR), particularly in the field of immunotherapy.
Mission
You will join an ongoing project that is developing a novel chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T cell therapy for the treatment of acute myeloid leukemia (AML).
Specifically, you will:
- Contribute to the development of innovative strategies implementing a new generation of CAR
- Characterize in vitro the function of these novel CAR-T cells including immunological assays, imaging and transcriptomics, and assess their crosstalk with AML cells
- Validate in vivo in mouse models the anti-leukemic activity of the novel CAR-T cells and address the impact on the tumor microenvironment
- Prepare scientific abstracts and reports for presentations
- Participate actively in the common activities of the laboratory and our research community.
Profile
- You have recently obtained a PhD in immune-engineering, immunology, cancer or bioengineering
- You have solid experience and are independently working with animal models (LTK1 certificate or equivalent)
- You are proficient in cell culture and gene engineering technologies
- You are an independent user of multicolor flow cytometry (FACS)
- It is a plus if you have experience with immune synapse imaging or analysis of transcriptomics data
- You have an excellent capacity to organize your work and manage experimental timelines and data analysis
- You read and analyze the scientific literature associated with the project and propose ideas for implementation
- You are a dynamic person with a positive attitude who is proactive and solution oriented, and capable of working in a fast-paced evolving academic environment
- You have good communication skills in English in writing and oral, and French is a plus but not required
- You know how to handle standard informatics tools (Microsoft Office, GraphPad Prism, FlowJo) and know how to adapt to the use of new software tools.
