Postdoctoral Researcher in AI/ML for Biomedicine: The newly established AI/ML in Biomedicine group, led by Prof. Marianna Rapsomaniki at the Biomedical Data Science Center (BDSC) at the Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV) and the University of Lausanne (UNIL), is seeking highly motivated postdoctoral researchers to work on innovative AI/ML projects applied to oncology.

Designation: Postdoctoral Researcher

Research Area: AI/ML for Biomedicine, Oncology

  • PhD in Computer/Data Science, Computational Biology/Bioinformatics, or related fields.
  • Strong computational background in AI/ML.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working with large biological datasets (e.g., single-cell, spatial omics).
  • Competitive track record of scientific publications.
  • High intrinsic motivation and scientific curiosity.
  • Strong programming skills in Python and experience with PyTorch or similar frameworks, as well as single-cell data analysis tools.
  • Knowledge of Unix/Linux and experience with high-performance computing environments (local cluster or cloud).
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and possess leadership skills.
  • Prior knowledge of molecular biology is a plus.
  • Fluent in English; French is a plus.

Job Description:

  • Develop new AI/ML methodologies, including graph representation learning, multimodal AI, and generative modeling.
  • Tailor methodologies to investigate biologically relevant problems, such as biomarker discovery, disease subtyping, and drug perturbation modeling.
  • Apply methodologies on experimental datasets (e.g., single-cell omics, spatial omics, organoid drug screens) available through collaborations.
  • Collaborate with a team of computational biologists and AI/ML researchers.
  • Gain leadership experience by supervising junior scientists.
  • Disseminate scientific findings through publications and conference presentations.
