Your responsibilities


In this role, you will join the Front-End section of the Electronic Systems for Experiments group in the Experimental Physics department (EP-ESE-FE) to support the electronics developments for the physics experiments at CERN.


You will join the teams designing, producing, testing and installing the numerous electronics components to be installed in the detectors at the Large Hadron Collider.

This work will take place in the EP-ESE-FE laboratories and various experimental sites around CERN.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparation and commissioning of test systems (hardware/firmware/software);
  • Testing and installation of datatransmission components (PCBs, flexcables, datacables);
  • Verification of detector powerdistribution infrastructure; Installation and testing of fibreoptics infrastructure.

Your profile
Skills and/or knowledge

  • Experience of testing analog and digital electronic circuits using laboratory equipment;
  • Experience of assembling system components (soldering, cable/connector assemblies);
  • Knowledge of Printed Circuit Board design, production and assembly;
  • Basic mechanical workshop skills.
  • Fluent in English, the ability to work in French would be an advantage.

  • You are a national of a [CERN Member or Associate Member State]).

By the application deadline, you have a
maximum of two years of professional experience since graduation in Electronic engineering (or a related field)
and your highest educational qualification is a general secondary education diploma.

  • You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.
  • Applicants with a Bachelor, Master or PhD degree are not eligible.

This position requires:

  • Work in Radiation Areas.
  • Interventions in underground installations.
