Job Description Your responsibilities**The Collaboration has developed 2 world-leading pixel detector readout chips (ASICs), Medipix3 and Timepix3, which are now widely used. The Medipix team, which is hosted within the Microelectronics Section of the ESE group at CERN, leads the ASIC development and provides logístical and technical support to Collaboration members and our commercial licensees.

After a period of training you will be assigned to work in the technical support team for the Collaboration within the PH-ESE-ME section and will perform the following functions:

  • Technical and logístical support to collaboration partners across the world and at CERN
  • Organisation of the production and assembly of electronic test cards for ASICs
  • Probing of ASIC wafers and selection of known good die
  • Maintenance of a database of components
  • Procurement of electronics components
  • Printed circuit board design

Your profile
Skills and/or knowledge

  • Up to 2 years of experience in the field of electronics.
  • Basic knowledge of design, test and production of electronics boards and systems.
  • Basic knowledge of use of CAD tools for schematic and layout of printed circuit boards.
  • Fluent in English, the ability to work in French would be an advantage.

Eligibility criteria:

  • You are a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State.
  • You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.
  • Applicants with a Bachelor, Master or PhD degree are not eligible.
