R&D Scientist, Chemical Ecologyfixed-term assignment until 31 December 2025
Location:
Basel, Switzerland (in-house Firmenich project partner)
Key Responsibilities
Design and develop new experimental setup and testing protocols in collaboration with different stakeholders, with the goal to solve specific scientific and/or applied questions
Independently establish procedures and be able to propose improvements, especially involving automation and data processing
Undertake behavioral measurement experiments in the lab on arthropods
Design and plan own experiments, ensuring timely delivery of results based on established priorities
Guarantee quality and reproducibility of data and data interpretation
Report own work in the form of research reports, publications and presentations at project meetings, thus contributing to decision-making processes
We Value
PhD degree in entomology and/or chemical ecology
Records demonstrating the improvement and/or development of behavioral assays for arthropods
Publications in Peer Reviewed scientific journals demonstrating the ability to divulgate scientific results and ideas
Demonstrated ability to become proficient with new technologies (equipment and software) and innovate on processes
Experience with Computer software including Microsoft suite and R Studio; programming skills would be a plus
Master different technics of behavioral measurement in the lab, experience with flying insects and hematophagous arthropods would be needed
Ability to work and communicate efficiently in a multidisciplinary and international environment
Previous experience on applied projects or in industry R&D laboratory would be a plus
The drive and ability to develop solutions to complex biological and technical problems
Fluent in English (C1), ability to communicate in German or French would be a plus
