The internship is in the SDG Lab within the Office of the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva (UNOG).

The SDG Lab works to accelerate action for the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

It does this by mobilizing and convening a diverse ecosystem and network of actors in Geneva and beyond to experiment and innovate to solve SDG challenges.

The internship is UNPAID and full-time.


Interns work five days per week (40 hours) under the supervision of a staff member in the department or office to which they are assigned.


Responsibilities:

Under the supervision of the officer in charge of the internship, the intern will:

  • Research, compile, draft, and edit basic information for use in the preparation and production of social media content.
  • Assist in the creation of original content for Twitter and LinkedIn and monitor and analyze statistics related to social media content.
  • Support the development of communications products and activities (e.g., website content creation, presentations, visual materials, etc.).
  • Assist in supporting outreach activities such as preparing event documentation and materials, taking photographs, and helping with event set up and tear down.
  • Support meeting coverage by attending key meetings (e.g., bilaterals and events) related to the SDG Lab, including notetaking and recording action items for follow up.
  • Assists with special projects as assigned.

Education

To qualify for an internship with the United Nations, applicants must meet one of the following requirements:
(a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);
(b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent).

  • Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter; and,
  • Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.
Work Experience

The ability to analyze and use data to advance decisions, strategies, and execution is desirable.

Knowledge of web-based content management systems and databases is desirable.

Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations. For this position, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of any of the other UN official languages would be an advantage.
