The internship is located in the Economic Cooperation and Trade Division, United Nations Economic Commission for Europe based in Geneva.

The intern will report to the Chief of the Cooperation and Partnerships Section.

Responsibilities:

The intern will contribute to the activities carried out by the Section, and will be asked to provide organizational and substantive support to the implementation of activities envisaged in the work programme of the UNECE International PPP Centre of Excellence by performing the following tasks:

  • Assist to the development of international PPP standards, guidelines, and recommendations;
  • Conduct research on topics related to PPPs, circular economy, digitization, and innovation;
  • Assist in the preparation of the UNECE Working Party on Public-Private Partnerships (30 November - 1 December 2023); and
  • Assist in servicing capacity-building activities in countries.

Education

To qualify for the United Nations Internship Programme, the following conditions must be met:
For this internship, economics, international relations, international law, engineering, social or political studies or equivalent are required.


Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter.


Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.

Work Experience

Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this internship, fluency in English is required. Working knowledge of French or Russian is desirable.

The intern must be willing and prepared to undertake the internship remotely for a part or the entirety of the internship. The work hours during the internship shall be determined based on individual discussion between the intern and the supervisor(s) taking into consideration the minimum requirements of the Organization and the time difference between the hosting office and the location of the intern."
Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations.
