The Centre for Nature and Climate seeks to safeguard our global commons. Our vision is a net-zero, nature-positive, circular economy that enables a resilient and regenerative planet for humans and all other species. The Centre develops multistakeholder partnerships to accelerate action, scale solutions and support policy for a net-zero and nature-positive transformation.

The Forum’s Centre for Nature and Climate (CNC) has three strategic pillars: Net Zero, Nature Positive and Better Living, supported by two cross cutting pillars – GAEA and Global Collaboration. The role will support the Better Living Pillar, and specifically the Global Plastics Action Partnership (GPAP) in the administration of grant funding.

Reporting lines and interactions

The specialist will report to the Operations and Fundraising Lead (GPAP).

Breakdown of main responsibilities

Operations

Support pillar teams in the grants end to end process, including grant intake, monitoring through grant lifecycle, and grant close. Maintain a strong link with the thematic content of the GPAP work so as to ensure connection between program work and grant administration.

Support the monitoring of grant budgets, as needed.

Support preparation of financial reports for donors as per grant agreements in collaboration with the Direct Funding finance team.

Manage procurement for grants in line with grantor and forum policy: work with GPAP team to identify services required, possible vendors, raise PRs, draft contracts in collaboration with legal team.

Develop collaboration agreements as required under terms of grants. Review reports and supporting documentation submitted by sub-grantees. Prepare accruals and forecasts as per requirements of the central forum teams.

Support grant audits as required through provision of information and documentation.

Contribute to overview of all grant performance of GPAP.

Record keeping, including in Salesforce as per forum requirements.

Other tasks as assigned.

Impact measurement

Impact Framework Delivery: Support the Metrics and Impact Lead in the implementation of GPAP’s robust impact measurement frameworks tailored to plastic management initiatives. This includes regular measurement of key performance indicators (KPIs) and supporting the delivery of a systematic approach for data collection and analysis.

Data Analysis and Reporting: Collect, analyze, and interpret data to assess the impact of GPAP activities. Coordinate the delivery of comprehensive reports and presentations that communicate findings to key donors and external partners. Draft bi-monthly progress updates for Steering Board members and leadership.

Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with internal teams, external partners, and stakeholders to ensure alignment on impact measurement goals and methodologies. Prepare and coordinate knowledge exchanges and other capacity-strengthening opportunities.

Innovation and Best Practices: Stay abreast of the latest trends, challenges, and best practices in impact monitoring and measurement within the context of plastic management. Share innovative approaches and tools to enhance our impact measurement capabilities. Drawing insights from the data to formulate lessons learned and emerging best practices to help the GPAP team learn and improve their activities.

Preferred requirements and experience:

University-level education 2 to 5 years of relevant work experience working with stakeholders from varied backgrounds.

Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, and the ability to communicate complex information succinctly.

Experience of working on grant-funded projects, notably in one or more of the areas of procurement and contracting, financial management, and impact monitoring and reporting.Outstanding organization and time management skills.

Excellent command of MS Office applications, including excel.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills; fluency in spoken and written English.

Quick learner, self-starting, service and detail-oriented, and able to work independently as well as in a team.

Willing to work in a highly demanding environment and able to juggle multiple priorities.

Understanding of, and interest in, the environmental agenda and work program.
