Join the SOPHiA GENETICS' Genomic Research team as a Lab Technician. Initially on a 2 year contract, this role has scope for extension or a permanent outcome.

As an NGS Lab Technician, you will play a crucial role in supporting our next-generation sequencing (NGS) activities by performing various laboratory tasks and procedures. This position offers a great opportunity for growth and professional development in the field of genomic research.

Your responsibilities will include:

Conducting sample preparation for NGS experiments, including DNA and RNA extraction, quantification, and quality control. Performing NGS library preparation, including DNA fragmentation, adapter ligation, and PCR amplification. Operating and maintaining NGS instruments, such as sequencers and sequencer robots. Performing routine maintenance and troubleshooting of laboratory equipment. Maintaining accurate and detailed records of experimental procedures, results, and observations. Collaborating with other team members to optimize and troubleshoot experimental protocols. Ensuring compliance with laboratory safety and quality control standards.

Requirements

BA, MSc or PhD degree in a relevant scientific discipline (Molecular Biology, Biochemistry etc) Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a molecular biology laboratory setting, preferably with NGS Techniques Proficient in the use of laboratory equipment, such as pipettes, centrifuges, and thermal cyclers. Familiarity with NGS library preparation protocols and sequencing technologies.
