As our first dedicated designer, you'll define the design approach and ship intuitive interfaces for time-critical, expert workflows. You'll partner daily with software engineers, research scientists, and go-to-market teams to turn complex functionality into simple, reliable tools that experts trust.Responsibilities and tasksLead the full UX/UI design lifecycle for web and platform, from research to deliveryConduct user research (interviews, surveys, usability testing) and synthesize qualitative and quantitative feedback into actionable insightsLeverage analytics tools (e.g. user behavior tracking) to inform design decisions and measure impactCreate and validate design concepts through user flows, personas, experience maps, wireframes, and interactive prototypesDevelop and maintain a modular Figma design system, including documentation and usage guidelines, to ensure consistencyCollaborate closely with engineers to ensure accurate and high-quality design implementation and resolve design/development trade-offsCraft clear, concise microcopy, including navigation labels, error states, and tooltips to support usability and tone consistencyCommunicate design rationale and present work to various stakeholdersStay current on UX/UI trends, tools, and best practicesNeed-to-have7+ years designing B2B, data-rich technical products; first/solo design hire or founding designer experience preferredStrong portfolio showcasing end-to-end design work, with emphasis on usability, visual design excellence, and measurable outcomesExperience instrumenting PostHog (or equivalent), defining an event taxonomy, building funnels/cohorts, and using insights to inform design while respecting user privacy.Advanced skills in Figma (prototyping, component libraries) and familiarity with other design/wireframing toolsHands-on experience with AI-assisted design tools and the ability to prompt, evaluate, and refine outputs into production-ready designsStrong understanding of responsive design, accessibility standards, and design systemsExcellent collaboration skills and proven ability to work in agile, cross-functional teamsStrong written and verbal communication skills in English, with confidence in presenting to diverse stakeholdersNice-to-haveBasic front-end development knowledge (TypeScript, React & Tailwind)Experience designing for complex or data-rich applicationsNote: Only candidates who submit a portfolio (website or PDF) will be considered.At Jua, we foster a performance culture and value people who embody our beliefs of service and adventure.
