Senior Cocoa Products Trader

JOB SUMMARY & MAIN MISSION

As a Senior Cocoa Products Trader, you will play a central role within our trading division, overseeing and executing complex physical trading activities across cocoa derivatives (butter, powder, liquor/mass). Reporting directly to the Trading Director, you will be responsible for developing sophisticated trading strategies, managing your own commercial portfolio, and driving the sustainable and profitable growth of our cocoa products business. Your expertise will be key to expanding market presence, strengthening relationships with suppliers and customers, and ensuring responsible and ethical sourcing practices.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Trading Strategy & Execution
  – Develop, optimize, and execute advanced trading strategies for cocoa products, aligned with market dynamics, product ratios, and company objectives.
• Portfolio Management
  – Manage a portfolio covering physical cocoa products (butter, powder, liquor), ensuring profitability, balanced exposure, and efficient execution.
• Market Intelligence
  – Monitor global cocoa markets, including butter, powder and liquor ratios, press/grind margins, supply–demand trends, certifications, and macro factors to support data-driven decisions.
• Commercial Development
  – Identify and develop new business opportunities, expand customer networks, and strengthen long-term partnerships with processors, manufacturers, and clients.
• Supplier Relations
  – Build and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with producers, processors, and suppliers worldwide to ensure reliable, sustainable, and traceable sourcing.
• Sustainability & Compliance
  – Uphold high standards of sustainability, traceability, and ethical trading across cocoa supply chains; ensure compliance with regulatory and certification requirements (e.g., sustainability programs, EU regulations).
• Risk Management
  – Assess and manage price, quality, supply, and logistics risks; collaborate with internal risk teams to ensure disciplined exposure management linked to ratios, futures, and product spreads.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration
  – Work closely with logistics, finance, quality, sustainability, and risk management teams to ensure seamless execution from contract to delivery.
• Financial Performance
  – Monitor your P&L, product margins, exposure, and KPIs, ensuring alignment with financial targets and operational objectives.
• Reporting
  – Provide regular reports, market insights, and strategic recommendations to the Trading Director and senior management.

YOUR PROFILE

• Degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Agribusiness, or a related field; MBA is a plus.
• About 7-10 years of experience in commodities trading, with significant experience in cocoa products trading (butter, powder, liquor).
• In-depth understanding of global cocoa markets, supply chains, product specifications, certifications, and ratio-based pricing structures.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex market data.
• Proven ability to maintain long-term commercial relationships and excellent negotiation skills.
• Autonomous, results-driven, and able to thrive in a fast-paced international trading environment.
• Strong sense of ethics, commitment to sustainability, and understanding of traceability requirements in cocoa supply chains.
• Fluency in French and English, Spanish is a plus..
