Windfall Trust is a global policy accelerator preparing society for the economic disruption where AI systems will outperform most skilled workers across non-physical tasks.

The Role
As Communications Director, you will establish Windfall as the authoritative voice on AI's economic implications and drive campaigns that open new policy possibilities. You'll help architect a global narrative shift and the voice that makes economic preparedness for AI as urgent as climate action became a generation ago.

You will:

• Build and own Windfall's narrative across media, web, events, partners, and funders
• Plan and run campaigns for our three strategic pillars, with rapid "activation moment" response capability
• Commission and edit high-quality content — long-form analysis, op-eds, video, and data visualizations
• Develop media relationships across technology, economics, and policy globally
• Set and run a content calendar and measurement framework that tracks narrative shift, not just coverage
• Act as spokesperson for Windfall in selected public and media engagements
• Manage agency partners to accelerate our impact

About You
You're a strategic storyteller who turns complex ideas into movements. You understand that communications is not about managing perception but about accelerating action.

• Strategic narrative experience: Track record of shifting policy conversations at scale
• Campaign excellence: Proven ability to ship high-impact campaigns on rapid timelines
• Editorial mastery: Exceptional writing and editing across formats
• Media fluency: Strong relationships or ability to build them rapidly across relevant beats
• Economic literacy: Comfort with economic concepts, labour dynamics, and policy processes
• Global perspective: Experience engaging audiences in both Global North and Global South contexts (eg differing labour markets, welfare systems, and political economies)
• Operational excellence: Experience working internationally at startup velocity
