About the team you are joining

The Manager, Safety Management Systems reports to the Senior Manager, Safety Risk within the Safety Risk & Quality Assurance team, an exciting and dynamic team that plays a key role in the delivery of IATA’s wider safety strategy. The team works closely with other technical areas and the IATA Safety Oversight Audit Programme (IOSA) team.

What your day would be like

This is an exciting position that will ensure IATA delivers a SMS strategy that supports our members in the area of safety management.
- You will develop and lead the implementation of SMS activities to progress the delivery of IATA’s SMS strategy.
- Manage a program of safety promotion based on outputs from the risk based IOSA program and Global Safety Risk Management Framework.
- Provide support to the safety risk framework activity, including safety risk assessment facilitation and outputs.
- You would be pivotal in analysing the results from safety maturity assessments, cultural surveys and risk based IOSA results
- Support our representation at the ICAO Safety Management Panel, where we represent the interests of our members to influence the development of international standards and recommended practices.
- Deliver SMS training to our members and other external stakeholders.

We would love to hear from you if
- 5+ years’ experience working in an aviation environment or other safety critical sector, with experience of working within an airline an advantage.
- In-depth knowledge of Safety Management Systems, including familiarity with ICAO, EASA and/or FAA SMS requirements.
- Experience of participating in or facilitating the writing of risk assessments.
- Experience in the delivery of training.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills. Writing and presentation skills in English are essential.
