Associate Director, Bio Process Science Lead

As a Associate Director, Bio Process Science, you are a member of the global team of process science experts within R&D, Plasma product development department, responsible for the manufacturing process for plasma derived therapeutics.

You will act as the global product lead and senior scientific expert for a defined CSL product portfolio.

In this role, you will drive consistency from a product point of view across the different sites.

You will lead and supervise the dedicate lab team.

You will support strategic thinking for the BPS group in the context of process optimization and modernization projects.

this position is a great opportunity to drive the evaluation and implementation of opportunities for improvement of current production processes, support changes and modifications to the existing manufacturing processes, provides support for tech-transfers to all CSL sites.

**Role and Responsibility**
- Provides scientfic expertise and leadership for various projects and initiatives across the IgPro/Rho portfolio, including: lifecycle projects and initiatives (yield improvement, cost reduction, quality increase) initiatives, risk management, process tech transfers, global expansion/contraction, regulatory and IP activities.
- Leads and supervises a team of SMEs and lab staff responsible for definition, planning, execution and reporting of experimental work related to:

- Manufacturing process optimization and modernization of established processes
- Increasing process/product knowledge: Exploration, definition of missing Design Space / understanding impact of product outside current design space. Process and product expert when it comes to Science.
- Complex investigations in case of deviations
- Drives data-driven approach
- Support tech transfers
- Provides scientific support for global products/IMEDs:

- Acts as primary contact point for E2E regarding scientific knowledge related to commercial processes/products in his remit
- Align, collaborate with E2E stakeholders on issues/changes of global products/IMED in their responsibility
- Provide technical expertise required to maintain QbD documents

Drive innovation and continuous improvement of BPS working processes, systems and tools

**Educational Background and experience**:

- University degree, typically PhD, in a relevant field of science e.g. in biotechnology / biochemistry / biology or corresponding qualification based on work experience in a relevant field.
- Proven ability to work closely and efficiently with employees and colleagues of all levels as well as proven ability to be independent and self-motivated, demonstrating strong organizational and communication skills.
- Strong scientific background in aspects of protein biochemistry, protein purification, CSL Behring’s plasma protein products and manufacturing processes, and protein analytics.
- On site presence depending on necessity, travel required across R&D/ PPD sites
- Fluent in German and English
