**Your role and responsibilities**:
ABB Traction, part of our Motion Business Area in ABB, is a leader in propulsion technologies, driving innovation in rail and e-mobility. Our propulsion, auxiliary converters and traction batteries contribute to making transportation more sustainable, while saving energy every day. In this role, you will have the opportunity to provide strategic direction, leadership, management, and coordination of the engineering function. Each day, you will initiate, coordinate, drive, and oversee team development and continual improvement of processes and procedures to strengthen the engineering and design capability. You will also showcase your expertise by ensuring assigned engineering operations are executed in accordance with all relevant specifications, requirements, and targets. This position will be part of Traction Global Management team. The engineering function is a global setup in the division and all the local heads of engineering, will be reporting into this position. The work model for the role is hybrid. With this role, the main responsibilities, will be the following: - Defining the overall function strategy and acting as a key player in its implementation and in strengthening a business model relevant to the scope of engineering. - Drive a culture of continuous productivity improvement inside engineering and with all connected stakeholders and interfaces. - Defining the strategy for the global engineering footprint in terms of capacity and capability in line with division targets and driving the corresponding implementation. - Coaching and mentoring the local heads of engineering to take full responsibility for their assigned project portfolio - Ensuring the projects execution follows sound methodology and practices in accordance with internal standard procedures and that the projects are closed as per contract specifications. Fostering a culture of global collaboration within engineering as well as with other functions interfacing with engineering (e.g., Product Management, Project Management, R&D, Supply Chain). - Initiating, coordinating, driving, and overseeing c improvement of processes and procedures to strengthen the engineering / design capability and efficiency, utilize appropriate methodologies to reduce engineering lead time, and enhance functional safety and cybersecurity. - Establishing senior level contacts in the customer organization and developing long-term relationships with key customers who work at the strategic level.

**Qualifications for the role**:

- Bachelor/master’s degree in engineering.
- Higher technical education around electrical engineering, automation, power electronics, electronics
- Knowledge about electric traction technology is preferred
- 15+ years industry experience
- Excellent English communication skills to motivate your team, collaborate globally and satisfy our customers
- Several years of experience in leading global teams with influential leadership skills
- Willingness to drive new business with strategic approach
- Passion for people, customers, quality, and technology
- Ability to coach, develop, lead, and energize a global organization
- Broad and deep understanding of Customer engagement
- Be a proven collaborative team player
