For our client, an international pharmaceutical company based in the Basel region, we are looking for an Associate/Scientist Protein Science (LSB):
**Associate/Scientist Protein Science (LSB)**:

We are offering a unique opportunity to join our team in the Roche Innovation Center Basel as Associate/Scientist Protein Science in automated cell culture and protein purification. This position is located in Lead Discovery, a department within the Therapeutic Modalities function, where the discovery of chemical starting points for further optimization in medicinal chemistry is a primary focus. We closely collaborate with our therapeutic areas and functions to convert hypotheses into innovative therapeutics.

**Tasks & Responsibilities**
- You are working on protein science aspects throughout the process from gene to protein with a particular focus on small scale automation
- As an individual contributor in a matrix organization, you are lab-based and work on the optimization of existing workflows to automate small scale transfections in mammalian cells
- You use your interest in lab automation to connect the workflows developed in cell culture to establishing small scale protein purification using various methods on a Tecan Freedom Evo

**Must Haves**
- Apprenticeship or University Degree (Bachelor, Master, PhD) in biology, biochemistry, biotechnology or similar with superior experience in state of the art recombinant protein expression systems, expression yield optimisation and accompanying cell culture techniques
- Min. 3 years hands-on expertise in wet-lab work and in using different expression systems (bacterial, insect and mammalian systems)
- Knowledge in all major protein purification methodologies as well as protein-based experimental methods
- Very good English orally and written is a must, German is a plus
- Good IT skills MS Office, Google Suite
- Efficient communicator with an aptitude for continuous learning, a solution-seeker with a sense of urgency to drive projects forward
