For our customer a big pharmaceutical company in Basel we are looking for a highly qualified Associate / Scientist Protein Science.

We are offering a unique opportunity to join our team in the Roche Innovation Center Basel. This position is located in Lead Discovery, a department within the Therapeutic Modalities function, where the discovery of chemical starting points for further optimization in medicinal chemistry is a primary focus. We closely collaborate with our therapeutic areas and functions to convert hypotheses into innovative therapeutics.
**Tasks & Responsibilities**:
- You are working on Protein Science aspects throughout the process from gene to protein with a particular focus on small scale protein production with mammalian expression systems
- As an individual contributor in a matrix organization, you are lab-based and work with automated small-scale expression and purification workflows for high throughput protein production and contribute to the continuous optimization
- You use your interest in lab automation to contribute to the continuous optimization of the established workflows from cell culture to protein analytics and data handling
**Must Haves**:
- Apprenticeship or University Degree (Bachelor, Master, PhD) in biology, biochemistry, biotechnology or similar with superior experience in state of the art recombinant protein expression systems, expression yield optimization and accompanying cell culture techniques
- Min. 3 years hands-on expertise in wet-lab work and in using different expression systems (bacterial, insect and mammalian systems)
- Knowledge in all major protein purification methodologies as well as protein-based experimental methods
- Good IT skills MS Office, Google Suite
- Very good English orally and written is a must, German is a plus
- Efficient communicator with an aptitude for continuous learning, a solution-seeker with a sense of urgency to drive projects forward
