Head of Comms

Hack Ventures is out to become the largest investor across Climate / Health / Food - without raising a single fund. We allow angels to invest small ($1k+) tickets across startups working on shaping a better people / planet and are out to deploy $1bn into climate tech solutions by 2026. We're looking for a Head Of Comms to take over and lead all our communications to ensure that we have homogenous communication across our activities, can attract the right users (Startups / Angels) our way, and are set up to scale our communications and marketing efforts as we grow. You'll ideally be someone who thrives under short deadlines, is a natural leader and organizer, has experience managing across-departments, is fluent in English, is great at copywritng, have an eye for good design, and is able to give constructive feedback when needed. Tasks **In short**: \------- - As an idea - a day in the life of Head Of Comms could look like: 1. Start the day reviewing key comms deadlines for the day and chasing up / liaising with different departments on next tasks. 2. Reviewing a pack of design assets for an upcoming Event and giving feedback to the design team where needed. 4. Jumping on a call with a sponsor and one of our writers for an upcoming report we're putting together about Molecular Farming. 5. Trimming the fat of a 2500 word report on "Supply Chain Innovations" to make it more digestible. 6. Sharing some interesting links about Climate Tech innovations on our team Slack channel for a future newsletter. 7. Finishing the day tracking the performance of posts and key areas to improve \-------------- - **Practically - what you'd be doing day in / day out**: Editorial - Managing the editorial team, making sure deadlines are met, setting key topics to cover, being the final eye on content before it goes live and adding your magic touch. - Drafting or reviewing copy for websites pages, articles, public comms, etc. Design - Overseeing the design team, making sure deadlines are met, reviewing design assets and being the final eye on content before it goes live. Planning - Thinking ahead of key events / activities for the year, planning comms, clearly communicating this with the rest of the team and ensuring deadlines are met. Managing - Managing a team of writers, designers, social media staff and being the central point for different departments (from events to venture) and ensuring their comms needs are met. **Requirements**: - Fluent in English. - Can write a viral 250 character tweet or edit a 2500 word report. - Has a great sense of design and what's trending. - Able to give clear, constructive feedback. - Has managed a team of 5+ staff before - ideally in similar roles. - Highly organized to plan ahead whilst still flexible enough for last-minute changes. - Already working in or connected to the Climate Tech / Food Tech sphere.
