The Forum’s Platform for Energy, Materials and Infrastructure Platform (ENMATI) supports business, governments, and society in building resilience to today’s challenges while undertaking the transformations necessary to deliver on the energy, materials and infrastructure needed for the future.

The ENMATI Platform is focused on accelerating the effective transition of the energy, materials and infrastructure sectors that build the foundations of a sustainable, resilient, and inclusive society. It brings together leaders from the electricity, oil and gas, mining and metals, chemicals, infrastructure and engineering industries.

The ENMATI platform, its programs and partner companies are engaged on the net-zero industry transformation via engagement on sectoral initiatives such as the Mission Possible Partnership, the First Movers Coalition and additional geographical initiatives and cross-industry initiatives on circular economy, decarbonization technologies, digitalization, public procurement or transition financing.

The Forum’s Center for Climate and Nature (CNC) acts as a system leader for the environment and natural resource security, food security, development finance and sustainable development activities at the Forum. It also hosts the Forum’s Climate Action Platform and the Circular Economy for net-zero industry transitions programme, which aims to scale circular economy solutions for the decarbonization of heavy industry.

The Mission Possible Partnership (MPP) is an alliance of climate leaders focused on supercharging efforts to decarbonize some of the world’s highest emitting industries in the next 10 years. These efforts build on the foundation laid by the original Mission Possible Platform, launched in 2019 by the Energy Transitions Commission and the World Economic Forum, to expand and accelerate the work of seven industry working groups in aluminium, aviation, cement and concrete, chemicals, shipping, steel and trucking.

The First Movers Coalition (FMC) is a group of forward-thinking companies ready to jumpstart the global demand for critical emerging solutions, helping to mobilize the necessary investments and draw down costs in eight value chains; aluminium, aviation, carbon capture, cement and concrete, chemicals, shipping, steel and trucking. FMC members will use their global purchasing power to create new markets for these emerging technologies. The First Movers Coalition is a public-private partnership between the US Government and the World Economic Forum. It works across sectors and collaborates with leading climate experts and mission-aligned organizations as a platform to accelerate and scale collective impact.

The Forum is seeking to hire an Industry Decarbonization Manager for Chemical’s sectors to continue building and drive industry and multistakeholder coalitions in the context of the

Mission Possible Partnership

, the

First Movers Coalition

, as well as other sector or regional initiatives and activities responding broadly to the challenge of reducing GHG emissions in the chemical industry.

Reporting Lines & Interactions

The Lead will report to the Head of Energy, Materials, Infrastructure Program - Industrial Transformation program inside the ENMATI platform.

The work also includes close collaboration with the Chemicals leadership teams of the MPP partners at the Energy Transition Commission, the Rocky Mountain Institute (RMI) and the We Mean Business coalition.

Externally, the work will involve interactions with a broad range of stakeholders and partner companies in the Chemical, materials and energy industries, but also with relevant industry bodies and associations as well as public and private stakeholders.

Main responsibilities

MPP Sector program and project management
- Contribute to successful delivery of MPP Chemical’s Sector strategy and Workplan.
- Deliver and curate relevant workstreams to support development of the projects.
- Support the delivery of Sector Transition Strategies (ammonia and other sub-sectors).
- Develop and guide governance and industry leadership of the initiative.
- Create and curate relevant multi-stakeholder communities committed to effecting systemic change, interacting with business, governments, and civil society.
- Prepare progress reports to ENMATI and Mission Possible Partnership leadership.
- Organize initiative meetings including working group meetings, leadership meetings and public sessions.
- Identify lessons learned and contribute to ongoing improvement of project and workstreams.
