Why we are recruiting

Through its Global Industries Team (GIT), the Forum seeks to build forward looking industry communities, develop comprehensive industry agendas, and anticipate and accelerate the transformation of industry sectors - by working closely with all Forum Centres and Communities and to help improve the state of the world.

The Forum’s Travel and Tourism (TT) communities consist of the world’s leading companies representing a broad range of industry segments and regions. As part of the GIT, the Travel and Tourism team works to build the world’s premier community of business leaders and public figures to advance a sustainable, risk-resilient, and prosperous industry that is essential for connecting the world and driving economic development.

Reporting lines and interactions

The Community Lead, Travel and Tourism, will work under the guidance of and report to the Manager, Aerospace, Aviation and Travel Industries. Within the Forum, the Community Lead will contribute towards helping industry partners derive maximum value from their involvement, while driving impact for the TT portfolio in collaboration with peers across the organization.

Beyond the GIT, the Community Lead will work with various teams including, but not limited to, the Business Engagement teams, the Centre for Nature and Climate, the Centre for Advanced Manufacturing and Supply Chains, the Centre for the New Economy and Society, as well as the Global Future Council (GFC) on Sustainable Tourism. The Community Lead will also work with the Forum delivery teams (events, logistics, IT, digital) to offer and coordinate key support needed for community and event coordination functions.

Externally, the Community Lead will be one of the key Forum contact points for community partners, including companies, governments, research institutions and civil society organizations.

Breakdown of main responsibilities
- Community Development and Engagement:_- Work closely with the Industry manager, GIT colleagues, the Business Engagement team, and across the Forum Centres to identify strategic engagement for new and existing partners relevant for propelling growth in the Travel and Tourism ecosystem
- Community Management:_- Identify, engage, and manage the collaboration of the most relevant stakeholders to mobilize action around common priorities, driving consensus-building and leading the community to creative and mutually beneficial approaches- Create a deep understanding of individual priorities and trust across stakeholders around a common agenda, which includes the delivery of dialogue series, thematic workshops, and virtual community meetings- Facilitate large working groups and steering committee meetings at the C-suite level
- Subject Matter Expertise:_- Have a solid grasp on key trends, issues, and key stakeholders in the Travel and Tourism sector. Be able to communicate to senior level executives and write reports, op-eds, and blogs on current topics- Monitor and provide strategic advice on active Forum initiatives relevant to Travel and Tourism communities, including but not necessarily limited to, the development of the Travel and Tourism Development Index (TTDI), and the- Global Future Council on Sustainable Tourism-
- Support the identification of fundraising opportunities and the development of proposals- Delivery of outcomes assigned and/or initiated to standards of excellence and against goals, including quality of the community and impact.- Positive feedback from external and internal stakeholders on the quality and impact of the community and portfolio.- Ability to work effectively with community members, ensuring that they are engaged in the Forum’s work and benefit from timely communication and efficient coordination.- Successful supervision of administrative, operational, and logístical tasks, such as managing event logistics, facilitating workshops, or preparing promotional material for the community.- Collaboration with Global Industries Team and wider Forum colleagues.

Preferred requirements and experience- Broad intellectual background with a relevant Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree a plus- 7 + years of relevant full-time professional experience, preferably across public and private sectors and multiple geographies, and/or in management consulting, and/or in project management- Strategy, operations, policy, marketing, or consultancy experience in the Travel and Tourism industry- Proactiveness and proven ability to deliver complex projects that require problem-solving and analysis, system thinking, stakeholder management and strategic planning- Excellent interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills, experience drafting communication pieces and proposals a plus- Be an active listener and natural facilitator of diverse interactions-
