Head of Finance - Flexibles, Europe

Position Summary

Plans, organizes, leads and controls the Finance activities for the Region functionally through business unit Financial Controllers in order to support the delivery of the required growth, revenue, profit, working capital, cash flow and EBIT objectives. Provides timely and accurate financial information, analysis and recommendations to Region Leadership in order to make strategically consistent and financially sound decisions. Establishes robust internal controls in order to protect corporate assets and achieves targeted return on capital projects.

Huhtamaki Flexible Packaging Europe consists of sites in Germany, Italy and Turkey, employing more than 2500 employees, with revenue of c700M€.

Main Responsibilities:
Overall Financial responsibility of Flexible Packaging in Europe
- As a member of the regional management team, develop and co-ordinate business plans and forecasts in line with business needs.
- Coordinates the strategic planning and budget planning process for the region to ensure robust targets/KPIs and objectives are in place.
- Provide timely accurate and relevant financial information to the key business users and decision makers that assist them in optimizing performance and results.
- Ensures forecasting are accurate and enables long-term planning for the region and Flexible Packaging segment.
- Develop and monitor capital expenditure budgeting considering project cost, approvals, financing costs, cash flow and return on investment. Also, review existing capital investments to justify viability.
- Drives working capital minimization and work closely with each country team ensuring optimization of inventory, receivables, debts, payables and capital projects in order to maximize return on investment and maximize the cash flow.
- Overall reporting and controlling responsibility of Flexible Packaging Europe. Provide timely, accurate and insightful financial reporting and analysis in line with Segment and Group reporting requirements.
- Leads reviews to control the business from operations and sales perspective.
- Reviews financial processes and procedures ensuring data accuracy, integrity and process discipline.
- Works with the business unit Financial controllers and Huhtamaki Cash Pooling department to ensure foreign currency exposures are identified and controlled and risk to the annual result is minimized.

Support all strategic initiatives for Flexible Packaging Europe Region
- Provide financial evaluation for divestments, restructuring or expansion projects for segment and group approval. Lead finance role in implementation of approved strategic projects.
- As member of the Flexible Packaging Regional management team, responsible for the formulation and putting numbers in place for strategic plans.

Support in IT system and other process improvement projects for Flexible Packaging Europe
- Ensure security, confidentiality and integrity of information systems by following appropriate access controls and disaster recovery plans.
- Work closely with Segment IT to plan, initiate and lead ERP or other system renewal and development, upgrade or implementation project in segment’s business units.
- Driving the Region level Enterprise risk management process and monitoring other risk management programs designed to minimize insurance costs and casualty losses.
- Provide support and input into the development of Huhtamaki group policies and procedures in Finance and related processes.

Team Leadership
- In conjunction with the business unit leaders, ensures the optimal use of functional team members (financial controllers in business units).
- Takes strong ownership of financial controller community to gain alignment to ways of working, setting objectives and making sure everyone understands their job requirements and expected results.
- Uses coaching, counselling and regular feedback to build teamwork and a performance culture.
- Team and individual SMART goals are aligned and cascaded in accordance with Segment timeframes.
