General Description:
This position may be located anywhere and will lead Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) for multiple non-manufacturing offices globally. The EHS leader will be responsible for developing strategy and leading the implementation of all aspects of the global EHS program within the office environment.

The EHS Associate Director/Director will create partnerships with BeiGene leaders and property management representatives at all office locations to assist in identifying workplace safety and health risks and in implementing control measures that align with company initiatives. Additionally, the incumbent will be consulting with colleagues on day to-day safety operations, emergency response procedures, and will serve as the focal point for Safety Awareness training and messaging.

This individual will have a leadership role on the BeiGene Crisis Management team and support the company’s crisis management and pandemic programs as necessary.

Accountable for preparing, forecasting, and managing global EH&S budgets.

Interacts with other leaders within all the regions and Global team to share best practices and ensure best-in-class EH&S services are delivered regionally and globally.

Essential Functions of the job:

- Must have track record of ensuring office safety programs and strategies are in-line with best practices, effectively developed, implemented, and maintained.
- Develop and administer a proactive global Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) program.
- Experience in managing a team of EHS professionals.
- Previous experience developing a strategy for implementation EHS policies and procedures across many different locations.
- Lead the development of tracking, analysis, and assessment of global EHS metrics and advise management about company impacts and improvements.
- Create and champion the global EHS training program and assess for effectiveness.
- Oversee the company-wide accident and incident investigation process (excluding manufacturing), Embrace continuous improvement, performing root cause analysis, and implementing corrective and preventive actions.
- Assist in the preparation, completion, and timely submittal of related agency regulatory reports.
- Specific areas of oversight include emergency response planning and incident response, material handling & disposal for office environments, industrial hygiene assessments, ergonomics, accident report oversight, pandemic planning.
- Must have inclusive leadership skills to achieve desired results in a highly matrixed work environment, and proven track record of exceeding stakeholder expectations.
- Must be capable and driven to establish partnerships, strategically lead and manage sensitive safety related investigations. Must be capable of providing recommendations for resolution, and leading initiatives to mitigate future safety risks.

- Must build relationships and partner with external partners, such as regulatory agencies involved in EHS, Property management at our office locations.

- Must be a calm advisor, with a take charge/proactive attitude in an actual or perceived emergency.
- Must have excellent written and verbal communications skills.
- Must be innovative in developing cost-effective, sensible solutions that deliver results.

People Management:

- Creates and implements training and development plans for all non-Manufacturing sites.
- Meets all reporting governance needs and creates, presents, and hosts such needs as required, focusing on each specific country’s requirements.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree preferred. Must have 10 + years global EH&S program management.
- Supervisory experience in project management, budgeting, vendor management, and EH&S operations required.
- High level of customer service skills.
- Ability to lead and motivate a team.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Highly developed verbal and written communication skills.
- Able to manage and train individuals at various skill levels.
- Must be a team player, committed to working in a quality environment.
- Knowledge and experience managing diverse EH&S programs/policies across a range of geographic locations.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
Potential to build and be responsible for hiring, supervising, and developing a team.

Computer Skills: Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office programs, including PowerPoint, Word and Excel required.

Other Qualifications: Fluency in both verbal and written English; competency in any other major language would be a benefit.

Travel: +/- 30% global travel (as required)

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent years of experience
