For the Unit “Publishing Operations Center” based in Basel, Switzerland we are looking for a motivated person to join our increasingly agile organization as

**Operations Manager Standard Journals (80-100%)**:
Strategic core of this function is to be is responsible for the smooth overall handling of the products under his/her responsibility in terms of content. Escalates production-related issue and questions to responsible Service Manager. In this role you are reporting directly to the Head of Publishing Operations Center.

**This multifaceted role includes**:

- Oversees the handling of articles through all phases of production
- Takes on organizational and administrative tasks, manages projects and coordinates deadlines as well as meetings
- Contact point for the respective product owners in terms of planning, timing and issues related to the post-acceptance phase, prepares matters with the respective requestors until they are ready for realization
- Works closely together with the responsible Service Managers
- Point of contact for Service Managers regarding Standard Journal expertise (e.g. communication issues with authors on external partner’s end)
- Creation and close tracking of tickets (internal ticketing system)
- Monitors Turnaround Times (TATs)
- Analysis of metrics (Insights reports) with product owners on a regular basis
- Organization of post-acceptance-only content (incl. PDF-only), e.g. Errata, Translations etc.

**Qualifications, skills, and experience required**:

- In-depth knowledge of production requirements for scientific journals
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education/degree or equivalent business experience is required
- Solid computer technical skills (MS Office/ SharePoint/ One Drive/ MS Teams) and ability to learn new systems quickly
- Knowledge of agile methods (e.g. use of Kanban boards) or the willingness to learn these methods
- A demonstrated interpersonal ability in client relations and good negotiating skills
- A motivated, entrepreneurial, results-oriented personality with drive for success and a “can-do”-attitude
- Have great organizational skills and be able to provide timely and consistent support to internal teams and external partners
- Have experience collaborating with teams to coordinate and deliver successful projects or initiatives - Fluency in written and spoken English, any other language is an advantage
