The Forum’s Centre for Energy and Materials (CENMAT) aims to accelerate a sustainable, secure and equitable energy transition that delivers on future societal needs. The Centre engages leaders from the public and private sectors to deliver new insights and multistakeholder collaborations at the global, regional and national levels. Through four interrelated programs CENMAT drives impact and value for constituents in business, government and civil society.
The Energy and Industry Transition Intelligence (EITI) program is one of the CENMAT programs. It provides policymakers, corporate leaders and civil society data and insights and raises awareness around the gaps and opportunities for transitioning energy and industrial systems. It aims to establish and disseminate fact-based frameworks to support transition of national energy systems and heavy industrial sectors, supports adoption of best practices to accelerate the transition efforts, and facilitates public-private collaboration on energy transition.
The program currently comprises following key activities/initiatives
- Fostering Effective Energy Transition report and index: An annual flagship report with a composite indicator which benchmarks countries on their progress on energy transition.- Net Zero Industry Tracker: A standardized framework to monitor the pace of decarbonization across hard to abate industry sectors, to understand industrial emission drivers and net zero transformation enablers.- Strategic thought leadership: Offer timely and relevant insights on current and emerging issues that impact the trajectory and planning for energy transition.- Community engagement and dialogue events An expert advisory board provides strategic input to the program and its activities. Roundtables and workshops are being help on key topics and to support energy transition in key countries and globally.
Reporting lines and interactions
The Manager will report to the Head of the Energy Transition Intelligence and Regional Acceleration. S/he will take managerial responsibilities for program’s staff member(s).
Externally, the work will involve interactions with a broad range of stakeholders from industry, public sector, international organizations, and academia, on scoping, consultation, and dissemination of insights related to the program. Establishing productive relationships externally at senior levels and across the institution will be of utmost importance for succeeding in this role.
Main responsibilities.
Split of responsibilities between team members in the EITI program
- Thought leadership, research and oversights of key knowledge products (40%)_- Overall responsibility for high quality analysis, timely delivery of and visible external positioning of “Fostering Effective Energy Transition” and “Net Zero Industry Tracker” reports.- Produce forward-looking, original, timely energy transition and industrial decarbonization related research and outputs (such as special reports, blogs etc depending on priorities set within the program and the centre- Supervise team members, professional services firm collaborators, and contributing project fellows on development of research methodology, framework, and positioning of “Energy Transition Index” and “Net Zero Industry Tracker”
- Stakeholder Engagement (30%)_- Manage and expand the network of external collaborators working on energy transition and industrial decarbonization thematic areas, ensuring inclusive representation from across stakeholder groups, industry sectors, and regions.- Prepare and deliver sessions/events in multiple markets leveraging CENMAT and World Economic Forum events collaborating with relevant colleagues and Forum teams.- Ensure structured involvement of a growing number of relevant business and non - business in activities of the EITI program to deliver impact and value to partners.- Develop strategic partnerships to amplify impact and reach globally and in key markets drawing on the key activities of the EITI program.- Support in design and delivery of EITI program and CENMAT regional acceleration strategy, leading on strategy and stakeholder engagement in specific regions / countries if necessary.
- Communication (20%)_- Identify suitable positioning and ways to further increase visibility of flagship publications to ensure relevance of insights with evolving nature of global energy and climate discourse and considering Forum’s institutional priorities.- Co-author whitepapers, blogs, and articles on energy transition and industrial decarbonization- Lead on developing the launch strategy for flagship reports, in collaboration with media and digital engagement teams, ensuring wide dissemination of insights using appropriate digital tools.- Represent CENMAT and the program at external i
