About the role

The primary purpose of the role is to assist with managing and monitoring of underwriting activities including process adherence, file reviews and business planning.

**Responsibilities**:

- Governance & Control_- Contribute to the development of the UW Framework (UW Policy, Standards and Guidelines) and ensure its annual review.- Develop, discuss and maintain groupwide UW Guidelines and ensure its further development.- Set and document UW Authorities (line guide) with documentation of respective peer reviews / escalation processes. Ensure that underwriters are operating within their authority levels and that any breaches are addressed appropriately. Coordinate respective changes.- Ensure that the underwriting activity is happening in accordance with the MS Reinsurance Policies, Standards and Guidelines and control groupwide process adherence.
- UW Process_- Ensure that all underwriting processes and controls are documented and effectively communicated. Including the development and articulation of responsibilities of all parties involved and monitoring of compliance on a regular basis.- Facilitate the implementation of standard procedures across locations.- Suggest improvements to existing processes and contribute to the development of a consistent UW process.
- Planning & Reforecasting_- Assist with the Coordination of the Underwriting Business Plan, arrange planning meetings and prepare supporting reports for discussions with underwriters and senior management.
- Data and Systems_- Contribute to strong Data Governance and ensure consistency of classifications used across the organization.- Gatekeeper of the Reinsurance Administration System, contributing to translating requirements and UW data definitions.
- Project Work_- Provide underwriting input into projects, e.g. drafting/reviewing and approving underwriting business requirements and user acceptance testing.- Contribute to any emerging projects or task forces as required.

**Profile**:
- Experience working in an underwriting management or operations function preferred (experience in Underwriting, Planning, Process Development and Guidelines).- Strong business process and data analysis skills required.- Good understanding of the International Reinsurance markets.- Passion for Data accuracy and attention to details.- Strong communication skills and strong team player.- Results driven and taking initiative.- The ability to multi-task and produce accurate quality output within required timeframes.
