ABB's High-Power Rectifiers unit designs and develops customized rectifier systems for aluminum smelting plants, electric steel plants, and the chemical industry. Within this area, the System Engineering team is responsible for the electrical design of the rectifier system. We currently have an open position for the Engineering Manager of this team of power electronic engineers in the High-Power Rectifier Business. This position reports together with the Engineering Managers of the Control Engineering and the Electro-Mechanical Engineering to the HPR Operations Manager.
**Your responsibilities**:
- Ensuring that the team is properly organized, staffed, skilled and directed. Guiding, motivating, coaching and developing the team members
- Overseeing the electrical engineering team which is responsible for the detailed set-up of rectifiers, AC converters, transformers, harmonic filters and power networks for industrial plants
- Supporting the HPR operations manager to translate business targets into tangible actions on team level
- Developing and driving continuous improvement to optimize the processes, policies and procedures of the system engineering team
- Working closely with other functions (other engineering teams, sales, project management, supply chain and other supporting functions) to ensure best collaboration
- Responsible for budgeting and controlling the system engineering cost center
**Your background**:
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities, with a collaborative, solution-focused approach and strong written and spoken communication skills
- A high level of self-motivation and curiosity, and a desire to learn about new technologies
- Sound experience in project engineering
- Demonstrable work experience in the field of Power Electronics is considered advantageous
- A degree in Electrical Engineering
- A strong focus on safe work practices and dedication to following workplace safety guidelines
- Fluency in English and German
- International travel up to 10%
