SalaryThe estimated annual salary for this position is $60,000-$80,000, depending on experience.
Job DescriptionThis role will involve preparing delicious meals for our guests and crew, adhering to various recipes set by the Executive Chef. As a culinary expert, you will be required to maintain advanced culinary skills in any section of a kitchen operation. Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Preparing dishes at an advanced level, following company recipes, menus, and procedures.
- Maintaining economical work practices and controlling food production to minimize wastage.
- Ensuring mise-en-place for all areas of responsibility are prepared 15 minutes prior to service.
- Participating in daily reunions to understand team operational needs and ensuring consistent adherence to Viking's STAR Service Standards.
You will be expected to provide exceptional comfort and service to our guests while maintaining impeccable cleanliness and hygiene standards. Additional responsibilities include ensuring the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and upholding impeccable grooming standards.
Required Skills and QualificationsTo be successful in this role, you will require:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Cook/Chef or similar position within a 5-star hospitality environment.
- The ability to work 10-12 weeks straight on the ship followed by 3 weeks of vacation.
- Fluency in English, with excellent communication skills to interpret and communicate documents, such as menus and recipes.
- Demonstrated ability to work efficiently and productively in a team, with flexibility, stress resistance, and exceptional work ethic.
