The Botnar Institute of Immune Engineering (BIIE) is a leading research institute focused on developing innovative solutions for global child and adolescent health. Located at the Department of Biosystems Science and Engineering (D-BSSE) of ETH Zurich in Basel, Switzerland, the BIIE has access to state-of-the-art facilities, including the Single Cell Facility (SCF), which provides flow cytometry services with a portfolio of 7 sorters and 7 analyzers.
We are seeking an experienced flow cytometry specialist to join our SCF team. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in operating and maintaining flow cytometry instrumentation and be interested in working in a dynamic, international environment. This role offers the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects and collaborate with researchers from diverse backgrounds.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of flow cytometry sorter and analyzer operation, including quality control and maintenance. They will also provide training, user support, and expert advice on experimental design, data analysis, and interpretation of results. Additionally, they will contribute to the organization of logistical aspects of the service schedule.
RequirementsWe are looking for an individual with hands-on experience with state-of-the-art flow cytometry equipment, knowledge of quantitative cell analysis, and high-speed cell sorting. The ideal candidate should have a good understanding of optical principles and practical skills in hardware maintenance and tuning. Previous experience with spectral analysis is essential. We welcome applications from candidates with technical and academic backgrounds relevant to the field of flow cytometry.
This position requires excellent communication skills in English to interact effectively with researchers and a commitment to adapt to the service-oriented nature of the facility. In addition to strong technical skills, the successful candidate must be an excellent team player and able to thrive in a diverse working environment.
