We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Higher Education Learning Mentor to join our team at East Sussex College Group. As a key member of our Higher Education Department, you will play a vital role in supporting students to achieve their academic objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide academic and pastoral support to students, helping them to overcome barriers to success and develop effective learning strategies.
- Support students in developing their study skills, including academic writing, research, and critical thinking.
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff to identify and address student needs, and to develop targeted support plans.
- Use data systems to monitor and report on student progress, identifying areas for improvement and developing strategies to address these.
- Provide one-to-one support to students, helping them to set goals, review progress, and take responsibility for their own learning.
- Liaise regularly with subject leaders to ensure that student needs are being met and that support plans are being implemented effectively.
Requirements:
- Relevant degree-level education and experience in academic support or a related field.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, staff, and external agencies.
- Knowledge of academic essays and dissertations, and experience of supporting students in developing their writing and research skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a flexible and adaptable approach to meeting the needs of students and the college.
