Job Title: Buyer/Planner

Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Buyer/Planner to join our team at Abbott. As a key member of our purchasing department, you will be responsible for managing daily activities to achieve high-quality results that support the objectives of the business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure availability of required material for Operations (production lines) and engineering/R&D projects within a dedicated portfolio.
  • Generate purchase orders using SAP to support production and project requirements, considering quality, costs, and timeline.
  • Manage order confirmations, delivery notes, and certificates of conformity.
  • Request quotes according to specification and review them.
  • Maintain purchasing-related master data in the ERP system.
  • Control invoices and support the Invoice Resolution Team.
  • Collaborate with the global procurement and supplier quality team when establishing or qualifying new suppliers.
  • Negotiate or renegotiate prices, annual volume agreements, and administer contracts with suppliers to drive cost improvements.
  • Identify and actively mitigate risks in the supply base, including obsolescence management.
  • Closely cooperate with Engineering and Quality when reviewing specifications.
  • Maintain positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or requested.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years of proven procurement experience in an engineering company.
  • Technical commerce education or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong communication skills, fluent or native in German and English (must be able to negotiate, conduct meetings in German and English).
  • SAP experience essential.
  • Good analytical, process thinking, planning, organizational skills, and excellent interpersonal skills required.
  • Experiences in negotiation are a must.
  • Knowledge in MS Office recommended.
  • Working knowledge of medical device industry preferred.
  • Familiarity with and basic understanding of the regulatory and quality system requirements (e.g., ISO 13485).
