Financial Accounting Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Accounting Specialist to join our team at Allianz Suisse Versicherungs-Gesellschaft AG. As a key member of our Accounting team, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting and closing tasks.
Key Responsibilities- Ensure that all financial reporting and closing tasks are accurate and completed on a timely basis.
- Execute assigned postings, journal entries, and account reconciliations on a periodic basis.
- Reconcile and settle intercompany transactions within the affiliated company group.
- Coordinate and reconcile data from interfaces of front-end systems.
- Ensure that all closing activities, including posting of accruals, deferred acquisition expenses, and other accounting transactions, are completed in a timely manner.
- Support colleagues in near- and offshore entities with their closing tasks, coordinate the tasks, and supervise the teams and perform quality checks on the work done.
- Document application of policies, procedures, and workflow for areas of responsibility.
- Archive records to satisfy audit and statutory requirements.
- Draft standards to improve quality and actively contribute to improving and implementing global operation cycles, processes, and workflows, as well as the implementation of global policies and procedures.
- Global P&L analysis and reviews: Assist internal clients (e.g., other departments) with reports, research, and other activities. Identify items or discussion or resolution.
- Manage relationships with third parties (auditors, tax authorities) and other business units.
- Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or a related discipline.
- Professional qualification related to Accounting (e.g., CPA, ACCA, etc.).
- Ideally 5 years of professional experience in Reinsurance, P&C Insurance, and/or Asset Management.
- Ideally 5 years of experience working with standard accounting (GAAP & IFRS) for insurance and reinsurance.
- Comprehensive knowledge of local GAAP, IAS/IFRS, Regulatory, Tax, and other relevant requirements with regards to reporting, compliance, and declaration.
- Excellent analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent ability to manage projects and handle complex processes, including understanding of data flows, documentation of processes, analysis of root causes, and creation of action plans.
- Ability to collaborate across teams and remotely, as well as ability to supervise and coordinate near- and offshore teams without authority.
- Advanced digital skills with knowledge of data architecture, understanding the potential of data analytics, and the ability to digitalize accounting processes and explain accounting needs to third parties.
- Advanced Office skills like Excel, Access, & PowerPoint to effectively analyze data and convey messages in a winning fashion and proficiency in using systems in your own area (like SAP, Business Warehouse).
- Proficiency in both German and English languages is required.
